A Resident of Schaumburg for 8 Years

Memorial Visitation for John (Jack) Sheehan, 93, will be Saturday, March 15 from 1:00pm-4:00pm, with a memorial service beginning at 3:00pm at Michaels Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 800 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

Born January 6, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jack peacefully passed away March 6, 2025 in Inverness, Illinois.

Jack graduated from Patton Masonic High School, Elizabethtown, Pa. in 1950 and shortly thereafter joined the US Navy. After his honorable discharge he joined Capital Airlines, which later merged with United Airlines, where he worked until he retired in 1994. Jack and Dorothy married in June 1958.

During their marriage, the family lived in Philadelphia, Pa, Manassas, Va, Mt Prospect, Il and Schaumburg, Il. He loved flying, held a commercial pilots license and taught others how to fly. He piloted gliders into his 70’s. While living in Manassas, Va. Jack helped found a youth basketball league and was a basketball official. He and his wife, Dorothy, enjoyed traveling and toured many interesting locations. In retirement he was a member of the Elks Club and the Encore Village Men’s Club.

Loving husband of over 66 years of Dorothy; beloved father of Tim (Becky) Sheehan and Ellen (Paul) Unterfenger; cherished grandfather of Kyle Wilson, Patrick Sheehan, Kevin Sheehan (Andrea), Thomas Sheehan, Allison Sheehan and Max Unterfenger. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Sara, His sisters Virginia Ciotola and Elizabeth Ober, brother Thomas Sheehan, and daughter Irene Wilson. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
