“The Road Of No Concern”

From the desk of the "Unknown Poet" this month is a poem for the times. Some seem to have lost touch with reality, as a nation, as Christians, as humans.

“The Road Of No Concern”
By : Donald R. Xander

Where are we now headed,
Where did we go wrong?
We once were once the greatest,
Now were frowned upon.
We use to care for fellow man,
Now the same we spurn.
Forgetting all that we had done,
Forgetting what we learned.

We’ve cast aside the science,
Claim no cause for discern.
The legacy we choose to leave,
No longer a concern.
It’s now replaced with greed instead,
And profits most unearned.
I do not wish to travel down,
The Road Of No Concern.

Our children now go hungry,
So do elderly and vets.
We use to care about our own,
How quickly we forget.
The environment is poisoned,
By acts of pure neglect.
Our water, air, and our health,
Have fallen to suspect.

Politics, now big business,
Prospers in the wake.
Our legacy in balance,
Will suffer the mistake.
It seems that we are subject to,
Ill wishes to adjourn.
I do not wish to travel down,
The Road Of No Concern.

When speaking of our legacy,
I’m surely not alone.
We care not what we leave to man,
And that includes our own.
This may be our planet,
But it's just on loan.
We did not create it,
Twas but God alone.

Those claiming to be Christian,
If so why than do they spurn.
The Lord God our creator,
Is that what they have learned.
Following sinful leaders.
Is cause for great discern.
I do not like to venture down,
“The Road Of No Concern!”
